A Walk in The Park

Maggie is excited! She is on her way to the dog park!

Birds nest in the area
Me and my baby!

Maggie loves her walks in the park, she loves to smell the area and meet other two legged and four legged folks! She is sooooo good on her walks too, she rarely leaves our sight and comes on command pretty well!

Love them Branches

Maggie is really thinking hard on taking this branch away, Izzy found it and got sidetracked for a minute there......we have a squirrel that tortures Izzy every day! This squirrel will sit on the fence and wait for Izzy to go crazy then make a mad getaway
Oooops, Izzy isn't going to let her have it at all!
I didn't get many pics of the pups this week, it has been a rather quiet, boring week and honestly I have forgotten my camera a lot. Hope to do better this new week!

Pictures!

Maggie and Izzy love to play outside when the weather is nice and cool.
So every evening we venture outside and have some wrestling fun!
Love to watch them play and tire each other out! Since the weather has been very warm lately we haven't really taken the pups out much.....they don't tolerate the heat very well so evenings are our outdoor playtime. I am looking forward to cooler weather and little walking hikes with the dogs!

It only took a few minutes!

I was only gone for a few minutes and Maggie found the coin purse that I keep on hand. When I walked into the house she bolted for the back and I wondered why.....since we usually get licked and whacked to pieces by her tail! Izzy was no where to be found as she knew "Mom" was not going to be a happy camper!
I followed Maggie and quickly heard a "Ping" a few quarters hit the floor, dropping from her mouth.
As I am lecturing her on the pitfalls of eating money I was also making a quick tour of the house to see where she would have found these coins......well, I came across the sofa and there it was! My coin purse torn up and coins everywhere! I looked at her and she at me then she quickly made an exit.
So what did I do? Brought in her kennel! So she is back to being kenneled when we are out. Less trouble for her to get into and less messes for us to clean up!

Terrible Somethings!

Sooooo today Pat and I went to do laundry and we left the pups alone in the house, they have been very good lately esp Maggie! We were only gone for a few hours....surely I could trust that they would be ok. I actually quick scanned the house before we left!
When we got home and walked into the house, I was greeted by a houseful of eaten up recyclable stuff. It was everywhere!!!!! Maggie hid right away.....after a lil stern talking to, I cleaned up the mess.
She sure has been in a chewy stage lately! More than likely pent up energy!

Izzy has gotten into the habit of running into the dark weedy area of our yard when I call her to come in, obviously she would rather stay outside and scare away the ferocious squirrels....but to make a mad dash after I call her?!!!!! she does eventually come in, when she knows I have reached the end of my rope!

I feel like I am living with a dog in her teens and one in the terrible two stage! But I love them and they do make my days interesting and challenging.
I am sure I amuse them......why else would they do what they do?

New Chapter

Well the two legged kids are in England now, poor pups have been put on the back burner lately with all the chaos of moving a family across the "pond"!
We really need to get back into their routine of visiting the doggie park and going on walks in the neighborhood.
It has been so hot lately that they really do enjoy just laying in front of the fan throughout the day.
But just like us, they need to exercise daily!

Lazy Days of Summer

Maggie, resting quite comfy on my bed! She loves sleeping on my side of the bed....sadly tho' it is short lived when I get into bed.
She has graduated from the kennel at night to sleeping in our room! She loves it and so do we!
She has also discovered Izzy's joy of eating socks! I am not too pleased with this! So I am always getting on everyone for leaving them laying around.....not fun dealing with a sick pup!
Well that's it for now, it has been raining a lot lately so the pups have been indoors quite a bit this past week.

Treasures found in our yard

Hubby was grilling tonight and so hubby as usual had the pups out with him in the yard. As Hubby is working on making us our fabulous meal the pups start to bark........at the ground!
Hubby did a quick investigation and discovered a crawdad or crayfish on the lawn! In the ten years we have lived here we have never encountered such a creature!
Yes, we did have some rain today and yes we do live somewhat close to the river but not that close!
Funny the creatures you can find in your own backyard!

Dog Gone Busy!

Wow, I didn't realize how much time has gone by since my last post.
A quick catch up......the main news is our granddaughter was born in February.....as you can imagine that is where most of our time has gone : ) She is adorable and we love to her to bits! We are trying very hard to get as much baby time with her since my son and daughter-in-love will be moving to England in a few months! We are going to miss all three of them!!!!!

The pups are growing and growing and eating and eating!

Maggie our English Mastiff at approximately 7 months old. She has turned into a very loving dog! Has to follow us around everywhere we go.

Izzie our 2 yr old Bull Mastiff, at the moment she is not feeling rather well.....upset tummy. She is always on alert and lets us know when anyone or thing is getting too close to the house!

My fids are doing well : ) Bailey is loving her sunshine and playtime outdoors....her tummy is looking better and better and her feathers are coming in rather well now....I sure do hope her plucking has ended!

The three Sennies are doing good too, chirping like crazy lately.....poor Harley is still trying to befriend one of them...any of them but they want nothing to do with him.
Kiwi loves her moments out of the cage....she loves to hang on me and I have to practically peel her lil feet off of my finger to get her back into her cage.
Mazi is still not the friendliest of birds yet but I am determined to win his lil heart! It'll just take time I suppose.

I will post more pics soon...and hope to become a better writer too. Until next time!

More fun in the snow!

Maggie at 15 weeks!
Hubby and Maggie on the outlook for the rushing Izzy
Me and my baby!
Maggie on her way to chase Iz
We romped in the snow and loved every minute of it!

Izzy would not stay still long enough for me to get a good pic!
Pups did really well today, Maggie is growing so fast! She loves to play outside but she really loves her indoor time on the sofa the best!

Walking in the snow

Whew! Just got done walking the pups in the snow, it is quite a workout!
One of my promises for the year was to go out and walk daily with the pups, not just for their benefit but for ours too. The older we get the more we need to do to stay active.

Maggie did really well although I did notice she is pulling on the leash so we need to work on that. She is getting the sit command too : )

Izzy did do well too even though it has been quite a while since we took her out on the lead for a walk. We have taken her out on grounds to run free and she loves that but she is missing the discipline of lead walking.

We came across some trucks and both of the dogs did not flinch or go crazy....good.
We came across a man who greeted both dogs, Maggie was not very sure at first but warmed up instantly....she did well. Izzy of course wanted to go right on up and jump, have to work on that with her.....she is too big of a dog to jump on people.
We also came across a couple of barking dogs, the first one i was able to steer Izzy away from since it was across the street and blocked by trees and cars.....she did good in ignoring it after I broke her attention. The second one was a bit tougher as it was directly in her sight and it kept barking! she did get out of her harness but we were able to get it back on. While we struggled with that she was good and listened and was able to ignore the dog.

All in all it wasn't a bad walk, we just have some issues to work out. I am determined to get Izzy much more social and tolerant of other dogs! I would love for her to be able to run free at dog park.

In time : )
